Set up Applane for your company

This is the setup path for IT and Platform teams. Allow about an hour when one person has the required DNS, Workspace, Google Cloud and Applane access. If several teams need to approve changes, allow for their queues too.

Applane provides a setup script, Cloud Shell and Terraform options, and a checker. You run the Google setup with your own account; Applane’s backend never accesses your project or app data.

Before you begin

Have a Google Cloud project with billing, permission to enable APIs and update project IAM, Workspace admin access, and access to your domain’s DNS. An existing project is fine. Who owns each step.

Complete the setup

1. Create the company account at the Applane console. This starts the 14-day trial. Sign-up guide.
2. Add the domain TXT record. Start here so DNS can update while you do the remaining steps. Verify your domain.
3. Create the builders and admin groups. External and public apps also need a company-managed bot account. Accounts and groups.
4. Prepare Google Cloud. Use the script or your preferred infrastructure workflow to enable APIs, grant the builders group access and optionally add a budget alert. Choose a setup method.
5. Configure Google sign-in. Create the Internal consent screen and web OAuth client.
6. Save the values and run checks in the Applane console. Resolve failed checks and confirm the manual Workspace items. Setup checklist.
7. Sign in as your first builder. Complete the personal Apps Script API setting when asked. Sign-in guide.
8. Test and publish one internal tool. Ask a colleague to open it and check their data access. First-tool guide.
